| The Conch Republic Royal Minstrels
On October 22, 1996, Coul William "C.W." Colt, Larry "Red" Seidman and Douglas Raver were dubbed the official Conch Republic Royal Minstrels by King Mel Fisher, Commanded to spread the musical message of the Conch Republic far and wide. Sir C. W. Colt Bio in a CLAMSHELL At 12 years of age C.W. was entertaining troops in the Philippines. Thailand and Okinawa. Moving to Colorado at 16, C.W. mastered the banjo and fiddle, playing on a mountain. He started the band named Free Lunch that included World Class slide guitarist , Sonny Landreth. At 25 C.W. recorded "America The Beautiful" at Marty Robbins studio in Nashville and put together 'The America the Beautiful" show. During this time, he performed with Hank Thompson, Buck Trent and Sons of the Pioneers. Turning 30, C.W. was working with Jimmy Buffet, Alvin Lee, Bo Diddley and Edgar Winters. He worked with Rita Coolidge ,Bill Champlin, and Ronnie Hawkins's in Jim Carrey's first movie Copper mountain in Colorado . Later that year he recorded "The Cowboy's Lullaby" with Patsy Montana and toured with her for 2 years. In Santa Rosa California, at the age of 35, C.W. had the pleasure of performing shows with Chet Atkins, Waylon Jennings, Jon Conley, Roy Clark, Doug Kershaw and worked for Narada Michael Walden. Relocating to Key West Florida at the age of 38, C.W. resided there, compiling 40 years of his original songs and recording the Legends and Treasures series, his personal collection of music. "C W is one of the finest performers you will ever meet". J. Robert is a premiere musician who is equally adept at performing on violin, Spanish guitar, mandolin, electric guitar, keyboards and steel pan. He has performed throughout the United States, Caribbean and Northern Europe with notable performers such as Chief Jim Billie, John McEuen, Sawyer Brown and Brent Moyer, to name a few. He very recently played the Gamble Rogers Festival and was named one of Floridas most original folk songwriters. Jay is also a Florida State Folk Festival artist, Key West BMI Song Fest participant, Big Cypress Fiddle Champion and a Will McLean Festival Winner! When Jay is not busy tearing up the mandolin, guitar and fiddle at musical performances, he enjoys relaxing and sailing on his custom 35' Trimaran "Blue Water". As a member of "The Conch Republic Royal Minstrels", J. Robert fulfills the role of Gypsy Fiddler Extra-ordinaire, creating brilliant, soaring fiddle solos. Utilizing his flawless virtuoso technique. Along with the "Big Cypress" Championship, Jay holds many other Florida State fiddle championship titles. J. Robert and other musical friends continue to perform countless charity events and benefits throughout the state of Florida in support of those who are less fortunate. |
